Principal letter
Dear Parents,
March was a big month in PYP ! We had our visit from the International Baccalaureate to become an authorized school for the Primary Years Programme. We had some positive feedback and expect the official letter in about 4 to 7 weeks. Thanks to all of the teachers, staff, parents, and board members who contributed to our efforts! We also had a very successful Literacy Month. The highlight was the Vocabulary Parade. Students were very creative in wearing something to show what their word meant!
As we begin our final term of the year, we want to stress the importance of being in school everyday. This is the time of year when students put together all of the things that they have been learning and show their understanding. During April, our grade 3 to grade 5 students will take the MAP tests in Reading, Math, and Language. We know they are ready to do a great job! In our final weeks, teachers will be assessing the progress of students at all grade levels in reading fluency and comprehension, writing, and math skills and application. We need students to focus and attend everyday to finish the year strong. We are also completing our 5th and 6th Units of Inquiry. We need students to show great attendance during Term 4 so that they will be fully prepared for next year.
Have a wonderful Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Laurie Barber
Primary School Principal
